Sounds like a bug to me. WinNT 3.1 works exactly as you expect.

With DNR, you shouldn't need a hosts file. (except for loopback?)

Subject: WSAStartup function call question?
Text item: Text_1
I am currently developing an application with a PowerBuilder front end
and I am using winsock dll's to make some network calls. In my attempt
to call WSAStartup, I have received an error of version not supported.
In the spec, the parameters passed to WSAStartup are WORD and data
structure. My question comes in the WORD implementation. I would like
to know how WORD is defined so I can mimic that. I assume I could send
an unsigned integer with the value 257 (1 in the high byte and 1 in the
low byte) for version 1.1. Does this sound like the correct approach or
am I misunderstanding the WORD implementation? I would appreciate any
help and guidance. Thanks for your time

Subject: xwindemo archive
I just downloaded xwindemo.zip from CICA. It contains the file
xwindemo.exe which is a self-extracting archive. I believe there
is a problem with the archive because all of the files (there are
a lot of them, many, many fonts) extract into a single directory.
And the file mxwin.ini wants to look in subdirectories that were
not created by the archive. The documentation gives no clue which
files should go where. Can anybody who has successfully installed
xwindemo give me a directory tree listing, or, even better, a
better archive?
